Travelled 3 hours yesterday to go see the new born twins so was off the air. Cute as, still in hospital with feeding tubes as they are not yet strong enough to feed entirely on their own. They’ll get there. Had a nurse - very tiny armful.
Will light my fire and candle tonight. My husband will be wondering what anniversary he forgot - LOL!! Can’t wait to find the new story. Hello and hugs to everyone.

Hi Judy - glad to hear the twins are doing OK, and I'm glad you're here.

The new story is great - and a bit of a surprise.  You'll see what I mean when you read it.

Hey! Hayjude. I wondered where you got to. Lucky you, being able to hold those babies. Such an amazing feeling.
I'm sitting as close to the fire as I can get to try and stay warm, so you are welcome to join me once you have finished reading. I can't see anyone doing s'mores, but I am toasting some bread and I've got Vegemite and Peanut Butter if you want to share.

Hi, Cat - yes, finally here. I’ve persuaded my husband that we need to have a barbecue tonight and will also need the fire lit. He looked at me a bit strange ‘cause it IS 30 degrees C here today, but he made no objection - too used to me! So I’ll be dragging the chain a bit - trying to catch up on 90 or so posts, plus the great start to another story.
I’m in with the vegemite and peanut butter thanks and I’ll raise you a pav with my favourite topping of strawberries and raspberries! Also brought a bottle of my favourite Frangelico. Cheers!

Oh, now you're talking. I wouldn't mind some of that Pav, thanks so much!! I'll forgo the Frangelico, as I think Paul is making tea, and I could do with the warmth. ROFLMAO

It's been cool with showers here all day. Got to about 26C and is now sitting on 23.

You are up to date for MEC but have you checked out the Family Room for Quarry Rock part 4, the Christmas gift of Cathedral Close and today's gift of Washington Square?

One of the things I love about this place is the things I learn.  I saw @Hayjude’s post about “damper” and I had to go on a Google search.  I read all about this bread made from flour, water, and sometimes milk.  It was prepared by swagmen, drovers, stockmen and other travelers.

But the best thing I learned about damper is that it’s sometimes called “cocky’s joy”.

Now where else in this wide world would we learn that!

No, actually, the Cocky's Joy is the Golden Syrup that you pour over the damper - very thick and sweet - a little like treacle, but much nicer. Yummm!!

The commercials are what make it worth watching and I wish I could tape it so I could flip through.  But that's not going to happen.  Maybe I'll put in on for background noise.  The Budweiser commercials are always the highlight for me!

For the Keeping Up Appearances fans:

Hyacinth: Riparian!
Richard: What! What, what!
Hyacinth: Riparian! That's the word I've been looking for, and I've found it in Sheridan's dictionary.
Richard: Oh God, I thought we had burglars.
Hyacinth: It means 'of the river bank'.
Richard: Oh, fascinating. Well, what do you want with a word like 'riparian', especially at this time of night?
Hyacinth: Because I have to issue invitations... to my waterside supper with riparian entertainments.
Richard: Oh, you, you mean a riverside picnic.
Hyacinth: No! I do *not* mean riverside picnic, Richard. I mean waterside supper with riparian entertainments.

Post by Zicat on Sun Feb 04, 2018 7:11 pm

It's Monday morning here so it's back to the grindstone for me, I just wanted to say my goodbyes to The Burning Horse before I got busy.
If I've missed anyone, I do apologise, my excuse is "it's 6am and I'm not yet awake". Smile

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I once went a roaming
to a place called Wyoming.
At hot springs we stayed.
Where fun games were played
We sat talking in the gloaming
Where the hot springs were foaming
Drinking Pink Lemonade
That Paul kindly made.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I saw Trisha, HayJude and 5116sue.
Plus Ranger, and Rolf with his Haiku's.

Torchwood Doctor and synystraal,
And welcomed Nonni the new gal.

Blue Stocking, Tarabeth and Meirene6307
And happily now that makes eleven.

Denicemarcell, Dizzy and Kaydee
JL, helmilli, Dells and AndaMitchy.

There was Sn1996, Suz, Missty and jkfan,
Fallschancefan, iwillbeadorable and iam.

Julie_nz, zevale, with CaemLyn and hellspark72,
Brassline, LanaBlade and KateM were there too.

I saw panda1213 and knox0606 sitting with mc.
And Jon4real with Chrisychris and DeeDee.

LLALVA, Lindawarner and quaintblueoak
Were all in the water, having a soak.

I was expecting more, but maybe they're shy,
It's a really fun Group, so I do wonder why?

Songs and pictures and poems were shared.
Stories were told, and some made me scared.

We sat about eating Paul's home-cooked stew.
There were so many people it was just like a Zoo.

But I didn't see Chris. And we all missed you? Sad

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thank you all, for a really fun weekend.
Oh don't worry - the forum experienced a surge in visitors.  They may not have contributed by speaking up, but they did read what was posted.  They enjoyed themselves (as many came back multiple times).  And that's what it's really all about - having fun in a way that is most comfortable for you and the gift they gave was participation by attendance.
And this contribution by you was very fun to read.  Thank you.
Thank you, Dee, for all you do. You, and the other Mods, do an amazing job, and I want you to know how much I appreciate it. I didn't mean to offend anyone with those two lines, and if I did, I apologise wholeheartedly. I understand shyness, because in "real life" I'm a bit of an introvert, but on here it feels so much like being with friends I do tend to let myself go a bit.
Me tooooo (introvert) - internet courage only.  And I'm sure you offended no one.  But I wanted you to know things I can see that maybe you can't - and that is attendance.  You all made fun for everyone.  It was a great weekend - still the weekend for me - yay.
Go enjoy your Monday!  And remember - only 4 more days until Saturday!
Don't fret, you didn't miss it. Real life being a bit of a Twinkle demanded a bit of flexibility with plans, I'm afraid. Fortunately this chat thread and many others were going at a good pace with everyone's contributions. The chat room was open (still is!) for anyone to take advantage of that space. Have you tried it out? It's great for a more freeform conversation. It is not a private room- everyone is always welcome to pop in and out as they wish.
Cheers
Trisha
