I love the idea of a reading recommendation from a character, especially one so fond of a good book as dear Roger. A lovely inclusion to the Advent calendar.

Cheers

There was a coloring page link in this, but I took it out because when I clicked on it, my antivirus warned me against it.  Sorry everyone.  That didn't happen when I checked it out before.

And Flynn needs a rope and gun to manage the Christmas queues.  After reading Ranger's teaser about this year's Christmas story, it sounds like even a rope and gun won't be enough this year - or whenever the story takes place.

So true, Judy.

I have a vague recollection that Jasper plays a wicked game of poker, but I can't find the reference.  JL should be able to field this one easily.

I love Fruit Cake, and miss my dear Mother making them, and puddings, for the family every year.
That's what I need when I go Christmas Shopping, a rope and a gun. Nah, I'll stick to going early, like July, and get my shopping over before the crowds descend! Though I prefer to order via mail nowadays.

Bedtime for me is anywhere between midnight and 6 am.  Sometimes I just can't sleep.  The other night I was posting with you and Cat 'till about 2:30 am, then I TRIED to sleep but wound up reading until 4:30 am.

It's almost midnight here - still relatively early for me.  Very Happy

Only reason I was up late the other night was because Hubby wasn't home to "tell" me the time. Now I guess I'm back to having earlier nights. Ho hum
I'd rather stay up and read too, Cheryl.

My dad loved fruitcake - the kind with the candied fruit.  I made it for him every Christmas for more than forty years.  I used to soak them in brandy for about 2 months prior.  I never cared for fruitcakes myself, but my brother-in-law loves my fruitcake, so I still make one for him occasionally.

I'll let you decide, Judy. I'm a bit like Riley and Dale. I love to stay up late at night, but then I don't want to get out of bed the next day, and I seem to get into more trouble after a late night. But I do love to push boundaries.

So hot today...I’m rushing out to hang clothes on the line and rushing back into the cool, hubby is mowing the lawn like a good little worker bee and I’m psyching myself up to go visit the in-laws and source some leftovers for tea - plenty of Pav left for you too, Cat - as well as M-I-l’s classic Christmas trifle....yummm!

I love jelly, and cake, and fruit, and I don't mind a little cream, not too keen on custard, so I'll forgo the Trifle as I prefer all those "likes" separated. But oh yeah, I love Pav!!

Question, Judy? Why are you washing at 4.22 pm on a Sunday arvo? Was the hang-over that bad this morning?

I picturing Flynn grimly marching into the mall, gun and rope at the ready...hat firmly placed...Burl Ives blasting in the background..."IT'S A HOLLY JOLLY CHRISTMAS...ITS THE BEST TIME OF THE YEAR"...and bam! The first penguin is taken down, roped and tossed out the sliding glass door. The local kids cheering the mayhem on....

Paul shakes his head. Riley comments to Dale "Its not like there weren't any warning signs." Jasper pitches in to stack the penguins neatly.

Beats me, Judy.  Having struggled with a work schedule for years, it's a huge relief to be able to sleep in on those mornings when I haven't gotten to bed until 4 or 5 am.  My rule is that if I haven't been able to fall asleep by 6:30 am, I get up and force myself to stay awake all day so that I can get to sleep at a somewhat reasonable hour that night.

Both my dogs are getting on in years, so they no longer nag me to get up early.  They're perfectly content to wait until 10 AM for breakfast.
