December 22!

The answer to yesterday's quote is The Willows.  Young Philip is learning wise things from his father.

Today's Guess the Quote:

None of the older brats liked to see the younger ones get themselves into trouble.

That quote - it's itching at my brain. Wade and others watching Gerry push his luck by the river with Philip?? Something along those lines?

I've been really busy the last couple of days, so I haven't kept up with the more difficult trivia questions.  I'm going to hunt this one down right now, Trish, if you will give me a hint on who paid Gerry's parking ticket and Kanesville??

Today's quote - July 1969 in Watching the Waters.  Lito's thoughts as Gerry is complaining about being made to do the equivalent of standing in a corner by the river.  Philip has directed Lito, Wade, and Gerry to sit on three boulders by the river, well away from each other to prevent chatting.  Gerry (unwisely) complains about it being boring.

You were spot on, Trish.

@mc - here it is.

OH - see, I haven't read The Oregon Way yet.  I'm saving it for Christmas.  I've been copying the chapters as they're posted into a Word document (as is my custom).  When the last bit is posted, I'll run it through Calibre to convert it to mobi, PDF, and epub, then send the files to Dizzy, and she'll put them on the Interim Bookcase.

Then I'll send it to my kindle, and Sarah, along with the FCR men, can keep me company on Christmas Day.

Trish - is that where I'll find the answer to who paid Gerry's parking ticket?

Thanks, Trish.

Ok my 'chowder' bit was probably off the mark as I got stories switched - 'm blaming being half awake - so your clues are:

There's no doubt in my mind that it will be well worth the wait, Ranger.  Dizzy and I couldn't be happier to do this for you, Rolf, the mods, and all of our forum family.

Cheryl, you are a master of deferred gratification - I couldn’t possibly have any parts of a new story available and not dive right into it. You have my complete admiration for your willpower! Off now to read the next part. By the way, thanks to you and Dizzy for converting and putting these in the bookcase for us. Much appreciated.

Trust me, Judy.  This delayed gratification is the exception, not the rule.  The only thing that's kept me honest is figuring out the daily quote and Trish's challenging trivia, and re-reading all the referenced chapters.  Then I take the tours.

If it weren't for the Advent Calendar, I'd NEVER be able to wait

Sorry, no. The man speaking wields a mean hairbrush, the man listening knows his art, and the man who paid knows Flynn in another guise.

GAAAAH - Paul wields a mean hairbrush, and I'm thinking Luath knows Flynn as a brat. Dale has first-hand knowledge of Paul's 'art' in wielding the hairbrush (I might be misinterpreting that last bit).

Am I getting warm?

I thought On The Corner of Fifth (the younger man on his way to 5th clue).

I know I'm going to be SO embarrassed when you post the answer.

You are soooo close and you've already nailed him in an answer to two clues: 5th and knows Flynn as a brat.

Paul says it.

To Gerry who knows his art.

Who paid the parking ticket?

A new clue:

FOUND IT, FOUND IT!!  Paget Creek - Luath paid it.

"I happen to know you're broke," Paul pointed out, "Because you still owe me ten dollars from your last trip, and Luath paid your last parking ticket." bouncy bouncy bouncy

I'll bet more than one!!  I can't believe I didn't find it earlier.  I just read Paget Creek recently, but I have to say, I didn't remember that at all.

I didn't work this hard to find an answer to a question when I was in SCHOOL.

Thank you for all the extra hints, Trisha.

I'm sure it's been answered though for some reason I can't see it here, but isn't this from Handbags at Dawn?

It's July 1969 in Watching the Waters, mc.  I tagged you in my original post.

Actually, HAD was the first place I looked.  I was thinking about Wade making the comment, but it didn't quite fit since he was pretty unrepentant until James got hold of him.
